CINEMA EVENINGS CONTINUE AT MODA SAHNESİ…
In its seventh year, Psike Istanbul Cinema Evenings continue in collaboration with Moda Sahnesi. The 2017-2018 cinema discussions are centered on the theme of “Let's Look at the Sky” and seek to find hope, broaden our horizon and open up space for the new, the healing and creativity. The sessions, which will be held monthly on Friday evenings, will consist of film screenings followed by a discussion of the film through a psychoanalytic perspective with Psike Istanbul member psychoanalysts or psychoanalyst candidates and the active participation of directors, actors, experts and the audience.
CINEMA EVENINGS 2017-2018: “LET’S LOOK AT THE SKY”
For years we have been dealing with fires, losses, grieves, one/ another, good and evil within us. We have been trying to make sense of the time we live in with the help of films and psychoanalysis, but sometimes this “we live in” is taking us over to an extent that we cannot raise our heads, we cannot look to the future, we lose our horizon, we become petrified with despair. We cannot get out...
This year, we chose our films from the works that will help us find hope and broaden our horizon and “get out of this state”, in which time does not progress and imprisons us in contrasts and makes it hard to open up space for the new, the healing and creativity. Come and “Let's Look at the Sky” together (From Turgut Uyar).
The fifth film we are going to view/work through on the theme of “Let’s Look at the Sky” is Burn, Burn, Burn (2016) directed by Chanya Button. Following the viewing, the film will be discussed by psychoanalyst/psychiatrist Işın Sayın Tamerk.
